The Highland Creek Pipes and Drums now affectionately named Highland Creek Pipe Band have been performing and entertaining audiences since 1954. Now a “Pipe Band” after it’s more recent additions to the Band’s lineup in the past few years….by adding a guitar, keyboard and vocalist along with the occasional kit of drums, jembey, penny whistle and flute  – Highland Creek has progressed from a “parade” Pipe and Drum band to a full fledged concert performance band.

While maintaining its full dress uniform the Pipe Band has performed opening ceremonies at various charitable events and feature performances at Fort Henry, Roy Thompson Hall (Nov 2011), memorials, retiring ceremonies and heads of state dinners. Highland Creek was honored to participate in the 2007- 90th Anniversary of the battle of Vimy Ridge France and the rededication ceremony of the monument in the battles name. From piping in the Prime Minister of our country on two separate occasions to opening ceremonies at Mosport and half time shows at BMO field our parade and performance schedule throughout the year keep the group steadily busy. With plans in the works for a summer concert, the Highlands of Durham Games in Uxbridge July 23 & 24, a special event in early August TBA and a trip to New York for the 10th Anniversary of 911 – we will be looking forward to seeing you at one of our many performances in the coming months. Come visit us at our next performance and see how we have grown with 10 more members!

Every year the band has the opportunity to demonstrate their excellence on the march in the Annual Warrior’s Day Parade in Toronto at the Canadian National Exhibition. This year will be the 90th Anniversary of this historic parade that honors the sacrifice of our brave soldiers in the various conflicts from WW1 to present day military actions. This event draws hundreds of bands from across Ontario, the United States, and overseas. In 1994, 2000, and 2002 the band placed first among bands with 20 members or less.

In 2005, 2006 and 2010, the band won The Metropolitan Toronto Police Veterans Memorial Trophy for placing first for bands with greater than 21 members.

In addition, Drum Major Steve Harrison has won the Drum Major William MacDougall Mackay DC Memorial Trophy, as awarded to the best drum major, for the twelfth consecutive year.
